About Human Resources

The Human Resources Department is charged with oversight of all personnel-related support and development activities, including hiring, retention, training and development, compensation and benefits, and compliance with policies and labor laws. Human Resources is also responsible for risk management, a duty that not only focuses on maintaining a safe working environment for all employees, but also requires the proactive management of potential physical and economic liabilities threatening the accomplishment of the County’s mission.

Oconee County participates in E-Verify. Holiday Schedule

Oconee County's holiday schedule is based on the schedule observed by the State of South Carolina. 

Generally, if a holiday falls on a Saturday, employees working a Monday through Friday schedule will observe the holiday on the preceding Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, employees working a Monday through Friday schedule will observe the holiday on the following Monday.

  • National Memorial Day- Monday, May 28

  • Veterans Day- Monday, November 12 (observance)
  • Thanksgiving Day- Thursday, November 22
  • Day after Thanksgiving- Friday, November 23
  • Christmas Eve- Monday, December 24
  • Christmas Day-  Tuesday, December 25
  • Day after Christmas-  Wednesday, December 26

Nurse Practitioner Program

Oconee County provides those covered by its health plan access to a nurse practitioner at the Pine Street Administrative Complex in Walhalla free of charge.  The nurse practitioner is typically available two days each week, with visits made on a 'first come first served' basis.  No advance appointments are accepted.
